Taking Care of Others...While God Takes Care of YOU!

A STUDY IN PHILIPPIANS
Good Morning,

A friend and I went to visit a young man in the hospital last night.  He had been shot, but, is in protection by authorities and we were not allowed to see him.  Please pray for him.

Also, yesterday another event took place.  My daughter and her husband, Ashley and Drew have been approved to foster and possibly adopt a child who needs them.  Yesterday afternoon they received a call that they were sending to them a 6-day old baby boy who needs them.  His name is Cooper.  Linda, my wife called me and told me the news.  She was excited beyond words!  She immediately went to the store and bought supplies for Cooper and then went to see him.  Ashley and Drew have two sons...Aiden and Eli who are also very excited to have a "little brother" in their home.  Cooper was born into a very difficult situation and I am so proud of Ashley and Drew opening their home and hearts to care for little Cooper.  He cannot be loved more than what they will give to him.

We're getting close to the end of the letter of Philippians.  The theological stuff is over.  Paul now acts like a real missionary...He thanks those who have supported him in his ministry.  Here's his message: 4:10-15...

I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that once again you renewed your care for me. You were, in fact, concerned about me but lacked the opportunity to show it. 11 I don't say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. 13 I am able to do all things through Him[b] who strengthens me. 14 Still, you did well by sharing with me in my hardship.

15 And you Philippians know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone.

I know what Paul is feeling.  I have been there.  In fact, I am there now.  The people who have partnered with me throughout the ministry God has given to me are some of the most special people in the world!  They are the ones who have said, "I want to go on this journey with you and see God's plan work."  Our partnership has not always been easy, but, it has been fruitful.  Thousands of people are going to heaven because of our work together.  I am convinced that one day when our partners and friends are walking down the streets of heaven that someone will walk up to them...possibly tap them on the shoulder...and say "Thank you for giving your resources to make it possible for me to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be here today!!!"

You see, the Philippian believers believed in the message and ministry of Paul to send to him resources so that he could continue his work of the Gospel to bring people to Jesus Christ.  I know what it means to have a little...to not know how God will take care of our home and our family.  But, because God takes the gifts of His own He has always made a way.  God always makes a way!

So, thank you for your partnership.  Thank you for allowing God to use YOU to get His Word out.  This week many of you have given turkeys and some of the trimmings and money to provide a Thanksgiving Meal for over 50 FAMILIES!!!  Most of these families would not have such a meal if it were not for you giving.  With each meal is embedded the love of God so they know that they are sincerely loved.  Each family will know that Jesus is "the way, the truth and the life."

Finally, Paul says "your gift is pleasing to God.  And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." vv. 18-19.

It's really cool to be faithful in giving and then KNOW that God will take care us.  A concept not promised anywhere else.  Take care of God's servants and God will take care of us!

Have a blessed day...
